Cameroon is known as "Africa in Miniature" because it has a wide variety of landscapes, including rainforests, mountains, savannas, and coastal plains.
Flora and Fauna
Cameroon’s diverse ecosystems support a rich variety of wildlife. The dense rainforests of the south are home to animals like chimpanzees, forest elephants, and the rare Cross River gorilla. The savannas in the north are inhabited by giraffes, lions, and antelopes.
The country’s plant life is equally diverse, with towering mahogany and ebony trees in the forests and the striking raffia palm, which is used for weaving and making wine. Cameroon is also home to the Oku white-necked rockfowl, a rare and unique bird found in rocky forested areas.
